The project consists in the financing of an off-grid photovoltaic installation with support batteries for an innovative sustainable and ecological complex called Mar de Fulles which incorporates the concepts of ecology, sustainability and energy efficiency at a level never seen before in Spain. It is composed of a bioclimatic hotel, a lodge and a restaurant and is located next to the nature park of Sierra de Espadan (Castellon). The whole complex is fully integrated in the landscape, based on a bioclimatic construction and is fully self sufficient. In particular, it has no connection to the electric network.and supports all its electricity requirements through off-grid photovoltaic panels with support batteries.  Mar de Fulles’ self-sufficiency is not limited only to electricity. Water is obtained from their own well and is purified on site. The restaurant is entirely supplied through its own organic vegetable garden. As for the air conditioning, an ingenious system of natural ventilation will provide air conditioning in the summer. In the winter thanks to high thermal insulation and the mild and sunny local climate, the heat input will be minimal. Another aspect which makes the project unique is its great social value. Special care has been taken in deciding how to do things. For building the complex they have always used local suppliers and materials of proximity. They have not hired any large companies but have instead sought to give opportunities to small, local, emerging professionals and generally have always tried to develop synergies wherever they could. The project was successfully funded by 131 investors.
